Mattiace Legal is a largely virtual law firm led by John Mattiace, managing member. We pair the training and rigor of Big Law with the responsiveness and pricing of a modern boutique, with Ryan Tetro serving as of counsel for select matters across New York, New Jersey, Florida.
Our story
How the firm started.
John spent the first decade of his career in large firms, handling high-stakes litigation for some of the most sophisticated clients in the country. The training was unmatched. So were the hours, the stress, and the distance from the people whose problems were actually being solved.
John's colleague Ryan saw how often owners and families needed the judgment of a senior attorney without the layers, opacity, and overhead that usually come with large-firm representation. They needed a lawyer who could think strategically, price clearly, and pick up the phone when the issue was urgent.
When remote work proved itself during the pandemic, the choice became obvious. John left to build something on his own — a largely virtual law firm that could deliver Big Law quality at boutique scale, with predictable pricing and sophisticated experienced counsel on every matter.
That's the firm he leads today as managing member, with Ryan Tetro serving as of counsel. Mattiace Legal remains lean, deliberate, and growing carefully — so the clients who hire the firm get the same attention the next year as they did the first call.

Locations in Manhattan, Miami, and Holmdel NJ, with active bar admissions in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. Practice areas span business counseling and outside general counsel, employment, commercial litigation, estate planning, and probate.
